“The poorest man in the world is the man without a dream. The most frustrated man in the world is the man with a dream that never becomes reality”, someone once said. A very true statement indeed, especially in this marathon that we all call life, where society and environment mould a person more than anything else, how unfortunate!
Generations have lived, died and been forgotten, without disturbing the fabric of history. Then there are those who lived their dreams, did what they wanted to and made a niche for them in peoples hearts for eternity. These are the people who took to the skies when everyone said they couldnt, scaled new heights, crossed continents and defied preconcieved notions all the while being ridiculed on the way. Yet, they stuck to their dreams and their desires and made their way to eternal glory.
The moment we stop listening to that voice inside us, the moment we ignore that rush of adrenalin, we’ve committed a murder. A murder of that legend that resides in each and everyone of us. Do you think that the world can tell you what you can and cannot do? (Well, facebook helps sometimes though!), but NO, it can’t. Its you, you decide your limits and being the most developed creation on the planet, you HAVE no limits!
Did the courage of Amelia Earhart even flicker for a single moment when she took on the impossible task of crossing the Atlantic? No, because she had faith in herself and an undying motivation toward her goal. And today we remember her as one of the greatest women pilots ever to grace the history of aviation. Think of it this way, this life is our very own journey across the atlantic, challenging, exciting and rewarding, but only if we follow our instincts and give life to our dreams.
If we, for one moment delve into our own self concious and ask ourselves, Is our true aim in life a degree? To slog at it for precious years? Do you think you couldn’t be happy without a degree? No, for in every one of us there resides our true self, locked behind a mask that we want the world to see. In some of us theres a poet, waiting to burst out his creativity, a painter, his paintbrush devoid of colour, a ballet dancer who’s been denied her dancing shoes or in some cases an overweight couch potato who just can’t reach the damn fridge!
Does a rank or percentage decide your fate? dictate your being happy with your life? the answer lies with oursleves, the way we think. To never let society bog you down and deny you freedom to follow your dreams makes us a true superhero, and NOT the one who wears his underpants on the outside! To look beyond the illusions that have clouded our vision and held us to the ground requires an effort to make our dreams into realities, then only can we break the shakles of monotony, grow our wings and let our dreams take flight.
