How Beckham Might Look In Milan's Colours!

Beckham on his way to Europe again? After spending a year in Los Angeles playing for the MLS side LA Galaxy, Beckham has now expressed his desire to play for Italian giants AC Milan.

David Beckham initiated contact to arrange a loan deal to play for AC Milan, club vice president Adriano Galliani said Sunday. “It was the English player who had his lawyers tell us to call, after expressing an intention to play for Milan.”  Galliani told Italy’s state RAI TV. The 33-year-old Beckham is keen to play in Europe in the MLS offseason to keep match-fit and available for England coach Fabio Capello. If a loan deal is agreed upon, Beckham could be playing for Milan for a couple of months starting January.

If Beckham does join Milan, even for a short period, its going to do him a world of good. He could be back in reckoning for the England squad. He’d also benefit from an offseason workout at Milan. Im not quite sure if Milan are entirely going to benefit from this deal apart from the millions they’d earn through shirt sales (thats a deal breaker in itself there!). Even if he’s picked he’d probably start from the bench and even then I dont expect him to get any significant game time. Milan’s average team age is already high with players like Pirlo, Gattuso, Nesta, Maldini around and Beckham coming in wont be helping the situation. But of course there’s no denying the fact that Beckham is a game changer, he might not be the quickest person on the field but his pinpoint crosses and free kicks are a boon to any team. Plus Beckham being in Milan is only going to increase his popularity over there and would help build the already growing “Beckham Brand”.

Don’t think ol’ beck will get to much playing time at Milan but at least he’s motivated to stay fit and help his country qualify for the World Cup. I do think he should hang up his International boots though and concentrate on building soccer in America which is what he promised to do when the LA Galaxy forked over millions for him to do just that.
